Hi Calvin,
Through various dialogue I get the impression that Eurasians vary greatly in their perception of their heritage depending on what part of the world they live and how much their family history was re-enforced throughout their life. The context has a lot of influence on how they feel about their identity. An Indo in Holland has constant reminders because of the high concentration of Indos living there and their direct connection to Indonesia. An Indo living in Germany or Switzerland or Canada may be somewhat isolated from their own people and may feel disconnected from their identity. An Indo in Indonesia may have very conflicting feelings as they are not quite Indonesian but also not quite European.. Our legacy is complex and varied so widely but it is undisputed that we originate from Indonesia. It is fortunate that technology is now connecting us as we learn about our "cousins" in other parts of the world. To be honest, I did not realize there were still Indos/Eurasians in Indonesia. I don't think I'm alone in thinking this. We were under the impression that all Indos left Indonesia after independence.

Thank you for your opinions and viewpoints.

Hi Bianca,
A good point you made it there, yes, it's all about marketing, and unfortunately many eurasians don't aware their heritage is something beyond look and appearances. Wish 3rd generations of indo people here share the same thought as yours, so they wont be reluctant accepting their identity.

Hi Calvin,
I appreciate your analysis of this article. However if I were you, I would not take this article about the Eurasian Invasion in Time magazine too seriously. Of course it's all about looks - that is a key ingredient in promoting goods or services. Have you ever seen a fat ugly person representing a product ? This is strictly speaking from a commercial viewpoint. I don't mean to sound superficial, quite the contrary. This article was not meant to analyze the complex history behind Eurasians, it's just fluff.
